The last day of the contest

Today is the last day of our 60-day challenge to knit clothes for the Handicapped Children's Treatment Center and blankets for Children's Hospital. There are still several hours to go, and if you have made things but can't get them here because of the rain, please call the Home News at 732-565-7295 or e-mail me at pmackenzie@mycentraljersey.com.

Here are contest entries from Lynne Ewen, including the blanket hanging int he background, the scarves, and most of the mittens and hats, and Kae Gregis, who made the small white hat in front and the blue fingerless mitts behind it.

I promised you photos, and here they are.

First, here are the things that I collected on Sunday from Kae Gregis and Lynne Ewen when they came to Bound Brook Presbyterian Church for the Sit & Knit on Sunday. Kae made the little white hat and blue fingerless mits. Lynne brought the rest of the things in the photo. I'm not sure what she made and what her friend made, but it's all beautiful.

Theresa Newman's prodigious output is almost more than I can count. It consists of at least 6 blankets, plus hats, scarves, and baby booties.

Then, I have a photo of the mountain of stuff I collected yesterday afternoon from Theresa Newman of Carteret. What a prolific crocheter she is! And if anybody in the Carteret area can (1) give her rides to the knit/crochet group at Carteret Library or (2) help her to crochet her first sweater, get in touch with me. She's great at making scarves, hats and blankets, but she wants a little help progressing to the next step. As most of you know, I don't crochet, so I'm no help to her.

Theresa declined to have her picture taken, but look at all the stuff she made for the kids!

Pat Cosgrove made this cute blue sweater and three pairs of mittens.

Also, Pat Cosgrove of East Brunswick stopped by this morning before the rain got too bad and dropped off this sweater and some mittens. Pat, if I had known you were here, I would've been thrilled to take your picture with me for the blog. Sorry I missed you, but stop by again sometime, since you're in town, and we'll take your picture then.
